This wine is 100% Chardonnay sourced from the Wismer family's Foxcroft Vineyard in the Twenty Mile Bench region of Niagara. Foxcroft Vineyard was planted in 1996 with clone 96, and sits 5.5 kilometers from Lake Ontario, at an altitude of 110 meters. Located across the road from the winery, this incredible vineyard has everything one would ask for to produce the very best Chardonnay. The limestone-based, silty soils couples with an ideal setting on the escarpment to yield wines with that perfect balance of powerful fruit, stony minerality, and a long, elegant finish. We have chosen to bottle this wine separately to showcase the unique characteristics of this vineyard.
"93 points. It spends 18 months in French oak, 33% of which is new oak. Quite the mineral bomb on the nose with gunflint and freshening salinity followed by lemon curd, gala apples, pear, citrus zest and integrated spices. It’s rich and savoury on the textured palate with ripe orchard fruits, flinty/saline/stony notes, lemon tart, and a long, echoing finish. Can cellar to 2028". - Rick VanSickle, Wines in Niagara
